Identification Requirements – what to bring?

We go where we are needed. Notarization provides assurance that the signer of the document has shown valid photo ID to a notary. We check ID carefully prior to notarization, make appropriate logbook entries and affix our stamp and embossed seal. We verify or complete the notarization date and location, as notarized documents require the State and County where the notarization took place.

Please bring:

• Yourself - The person whose signature is being notarized must personally appear before the notary.
• Your completed document(s) - (In the case of Affidavits, I would be more than happy to quickly and professionally type your affidavit for a separate fee.)

New York recognizes the following types of identification as valid if issued by the state within the last 5 years:

• New York Driver License or Commercial Driver License
• ID Card - Senior Identification Card, Under 18 Identification Card, New York Identification Card
• A US passport

The following types of identification are acceptable if they are current and have been issued within the last 5 years:

• Driver license or ID card issued by another state
• Mexican or Canadian driver license issued by an authorized agency.
• US Military identification card
• Foreign passport if stamped by the Immigration and naturalization service.

All identification cards must contain a photo, physical description, signature and serial number.
